Free weights ~ How to Get Started! ~ Workout 💪🏽

So I’m finally starting to see some changed and more definition my arms which I am hella excited about! 💪🏽😍 And it is 100% since I started using free weights instead of machines in the gym for my arm days as well as keeping a structure and focusing on certain muscles on different days!

I was always intimidated by the free weights section in the gym but recently I decided to feel the fear and do it anyway starting with the lightest weight (2kg 🙈) and building up, I’m now lifting 6-8kg! How you may ask? Well as you know how nerdy I am I did alot of research! I watched so many videos on instagram and youtube @whitneyysimmons , @abby, @gracefituk and @fearstofit are my personal faves and basically picked a few work outs and gave them a go! From that I worked out what I liked and a few of the best for beginners which are listed for all you lovely lot below…

I’ll immediately answer the questions, yes you can. However, this is circumstantial.
Theoretically if everyday the average person (a 2000 calorie diet) ate 2 Big Macs and a large fry, 1590 calories, they would lose about 1.75 lbs every 2 weeks.
The amount of calories in any food is not a significant indication of its overall “healthiness”. Your macros could be all out of wack. So in a 300 calorie item 60% of those calories could be coming from fat, 30% carbohydrates and 10% protein. Something like this is probably just going to make you groggy.
It can also be an insufficient source of micronutrients (vitamins & minerals). This can lead to all sorts of problems, the easiest to come by include feeling sleepy, sluggish, and lathargic.
Im a firm believer that you should enjoy your life and that includes food! I don’t understand depriving yourself, like to what ends? This may sound morbid but we’re all going to die. Plain and simple. Diets and healthy lifestyles don’t lead to immortality. If eating nothing but raw vegetables is your thing and that makes you happy cool! But if you feel like you HAVE to eat raw veggies all the time and force yourself to do it, is that worth it? A treat here and there isn’t going to effect your body. I love working out, I enjoy healthy food but as for me I like to be able to eat whatever the hell I want sometimes too!
So yes you can eat whatever you want if your mindful of calories but like I said calories aren’t everything! Strive for balance, a diet focused on real wholesome foods (aka plants) and exercise. Treat yourself, be proud of yourself and most importantly do things you love!
it’s never too late!!!!!!! to text them back. to drink enough water today. to get into a skincare routine. to learn the piano or how to paint!! to learn winged eyeliner. to tell them how u feel. to start getting fitter. to get changed or brush your teeth or shower today. to read that book or watch that show everyone was talking about years ago. to turn an acquaintance into a friend. if u don’t start somewhere u won’t go anywhere at all.

So my gym asked me to take part in their This Girl Can campaign and share my story of why I workout and what keeps me motivated! 🙈 I was really honoured to be asked even if I wasn’t stereotypically ‘ready’ for a photoshoot as I’d just finished my bulk and began my cut two days ago 😂 I’m 15pounds heavier than my goal but still far less than where I began this year and a hell of a lot stronger 💪🏽 I am my motivation, and I know I’ll be back down to my GW sooner than ever! 💕
